Village January 2016 Minutes
January 13, 2016
Present: Maksimchuk’s, Burns, Tate, Seamon, Wolford, Beauchamp, Olk, Gauthier
Meeting called to order by Mayor Jerry Burns at 7:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance. Motion by Maksimchuk, support by Olk to accept the minutes, motion carried. Motion by Seamon, support by Maksimchuk to accept the Treasurer’s report, motion carried.
Public Comments- Kelly Potter requested a Special meeting for a Variance. Motion by Maksimchuk, support by Olk to hold a special meeting February 1 at 7:00 p.m. for a Variance requested by Marilyn Thiel, motion carried. Jerry Johnson was present to ask about unposted minutes on web page, (missing 3 months) Clerk will contact web developer.
Question in regards to who reports street lights as Mr.Johnson reported that there is one by his house that has been on for 8 months. Questioned Council in regards to policy supporting local business’s, at this time Council does not have a written policy but does try to support local business’s when feasible. Also questioned water commissioner as to total of past due water bills.
Police & DPW Reports are on file. Part-Time employee, Andy Hobson has given his two week notice, will have to find a replacement. Discussed plowing and piles of snow.
Motion by Olk, support by Gauthier to increase the cost of a Variance to $300.00, discussion, roll call vote, Beauchamp no, Wolford no, Maksimchuk no, Gauthier yes, Seamon yes, Burns, yes, motion carry’s.
Police Chief is the Traffic Engineer for the Village and will monitor and place Authorized Vehicle signs on the “alleys” that were never used for thru traffic and was an easement for utility vehicles only. Damage is being done to those never used or maintained as an alley. Recommendation will come back to council from Police Chief.
Motion by Maksimchuk, support by Seamon to have our next meeting be a Public Hearing for Proposed budgets and a Truth In Taxation Hearing, all yeas, motion carried. **All budgets need to be turned into clerk by January 30 for CPA to review and make recommendations.
Update on SAW Grant.
Motion by Olk, support by Beauchamp to pay all the bills including telephone and Consumers, roll call vote, all yeas, motion carried.
