May 18, 2023 – DDA Minutes New Lothrop
Members present: Pete Stewart, Anita Stewart, Dave Schnell, Cindy Kinsey, Kayla McCormic, Tammy Schiefer, Mark Birchmeier, Charles (Skip) McCormic Absent: Zach Besaw
Meeting started at 6:47 pm
- Dave made a motion to approve the meeting minutes for March. Second by Anita. Row call vote, unanimous, motion carried.
- Skip made a motion to approve the treasurer’s reports for April. Second by Dave. Row call vote, unanimous, motion carried.
- Special Guest & Comments: Police Chief Curt Bierlein asked if we would help pay for a Canine Vehicle for the village police department. Pete made a motion to spend up to $17,000 for a canine vehicle, contingent on the maintenance record. Second by Mark. Pete amended the motion to pay up to $16,500 with the proceeds of selling the charger to come back to the NL DDA. Second by Mark. Row call vote. Mark-yes, Dave-yes, Tammy-yes, Cindy-yes, Anita-yes, Pete-yes, Skip-abstained. Unanimous, motion carried.
- Old Business: 103.5 Bill-still no information. Cindy said that the garage sales were doing good, will plan to do the sales again next year. Checking with Lorraine regarding the bill for newspaper. We will be paying annually instead of monthly.
- Skip spoke about the street upgrades. Skip made a motion to spend up to $49,500 budget allow for streets upgrades granted that the village to utilize repairs to the street project. Get bids to see who will do the project. Second by Tammy. Row call vote, unanimous, motion carried.
- New Business: Revitalization Grants: Jody Green wood-new sign for Jody Hair Zone Salon. Kayla made a motion to approve. Second by Cindy. Row call vote, unanimous, motion carried. Request asked if we could move the speed zone signs, maybe could move it periodically. Don Felipe asked permission to paint a mural on the side wall of their building. Get with Art teacher to get students to do the painting. Plague in the Confer Park, honoring Grace & Huey Yott with history of the Confer family. Check on Fireworks cost with a local that is licensed and insured. Skip talked about updates from the village meeting.
- Pete made a motion to approve all Invoices. Second by Anita. Row call vote, unanimous, motion carried.
- Round Table: Dave talked about putting some trees up in each corner of the parking lot.
