March Village 2024 Minutes

April 1, 2024

Present:  Tate, Maksimchuk, Ustishen, Seamon, McCormic, Birchmeier, Gauthier, Mills, Olk

Meeting called to order by Mayor McCormic with the Pledge of Allegiance at 7:00 p.m.  Motion by Gauthier, support by Seamon to accept the minutes, motion carried.  Motion by Seamon, support by Ustishen to accept the treasurer’s report, motion carried.

Public Comments, Bill Swain questioned the trees again on Beech Street which are on school property and they have been trimmed and no further plans.  Bill also mentioned all the great things that Village resident, Mark Birchmeier has done for our town and would like to see some recognition.  Dave Schnell discussed signs coming into Village need some updating and repairs.  Will discuss at next DDA meeting.

Police, DPW, DDA and Zoning Reports are on file.

Consensus of council was to extend the warranty on the Village generator.

Carls reported on new plans for Safe Routes Grant and sidewalk to championship drive was not approved.  Discussed repainting parking lines on Main Street and also if crack sealing would be possible.  Road Repairs for the Village was discussed that projects are projected for 2025.

Motion by Seamon, support by Olk to pursue a grant for Streets with an amount up to $250,000.00 which will be matched by the State of Michigan, providing the resolution is reviewed by the Village Attorney, discussion, roll call vote, all yeas, motion carried.

Motion by Olk, support by Mills to pay all the bills, roll call vote, all yeas, motion carried.
