Village August 2021 Minutes

August 11, 2021

Present:  Maksimchuk’s, Tate, Seamon (via telephone), Gauthier, Besaw, Birchmeier, Olk.  Absent:  Ustishen,

Meeting called to order by Mayor John Maksimchuk at 7:00 pm with the Pledge of Allegiance.  Motion by Olk, support by Besaw to accept the minutes, motion carried.   Motion by Olk, support by Besaw to accept Treasurer’s report, motion carried.

Public Comments:  JD Smith, owner of Hornet’s Nest discussed American Rescue Plan Act Monies that the Village would receive.  We haven’t discussed what monies are designated for at this time. Rex Wheeler was also present with Mr. Smith and they would like to know what the community wants to see in that building.  Terry explained details of the act and passed out literature to council members.

DPW, Police and Zoning Reports on file. Motion by Besaw, support by Birchmeier to hire New part time officers , Alex Garcia and Chris Bigelow sworn in by Village Clerk, roll call vote, all yeas, motion carried.

Discussed Police contract with the School, still in negotiations, consensus of council was to continue the contract as in the past with the elimination of #6.

Sidewalk quote received, Mayor Maksimchuk will take to DDA meeting.

Discussed Apple Tree at Drexler’s property on Beech Street.  Motion by Birchmeier, support by Besaw to allow the tree to be taken down at owner’s labor and  owner cleans up tree also. discussion , This tree was approved by council to be cut down for previous owner and it was not done before owner passed away., roll call vote, all yeas, motion carried.

Motion by Birchmeier, support by Besaw to allow Gross Construction to do sidewalks up to $15,000 contingent on approval from DDA, roll call vote, all yeas, motion carried.

Motion by Olk, support by Gauthier to pay all the bills, roll call vote, all yeas, motion carried.
